Extending vendor model

Thank you for sharing your generous work with us. I am looking to extend a vendor model in my application and therefore may not have the luxury of adding the ```HasChildren``` Trait on the parent. I am therefore not able to reference relationships implemented on the parent side. Is there a workaround to this scenario?
