fake password doesn't unlock the phone

I provided the fake and real phone password. however, when I use the fake one in unlock screen it tells me the password is incorrect instead of unlocking the phone. although it does apply the action. does it work exclusively with PINs? if so this would be bad for security against things like Cellbrite.
