Environment • Hotline for Mac b27 • macOS: 26.3 • Input method: macOS Japanese IME (“Japanese – Romaji”), US keyboard Summary While chatting with a friend, I noticed that if I’m typing Japanese with the macOS IME and the text is still uncommitted (in composition / pre-confirmation state), my in-progress input gets cleared when a new incoming chat message arrives. Steps to reproduce 1. Start a 1:1 chat with another user. 2. Focus the chat input field and switch to macOS Japanese IME. 3. Type Japanese and convert (press Space), but do not press Enter to commit yet (leave the text in IME composition state). 4. While the composition is still active, have the other person send a message so a new message arrives in the chat. Expected behavior • The uncommitted IME composition should remain intact. • Incoming messages should not clear or reset the current input. Actual behavior • When a new message arrives, my current uncommitted IME text disappears (the input field is cleared / composition is lost). Notes • If I complete the composition first (press Enter to commit) and then press Enter again to send, it works normally. • This seems to happen specifically with IME composition (Japanese input). Thanks for taking a look.
