Is pb-for-desktop a dead project?

As the pb-for-desktop project has had no news, updates or developer responses to bug/issue reports for literally years, can we assume that it is now a dead project? As it is an Electron-based app, a lack of updates means that security fixes for the underlying Chromium/Node.js framework are not being implemented, placing users at risk from security flaws. I'm a long-term user, but would now argue that we should now no longer be using this application. Would a dev care to comment on the current status of the project?
