CADBase is a platform for 3D models and CAD data — essentially acting as a "GitLab for engineers". We also provide integrations with popular open-source tools like FreeCAD and Blender. Built by a small independent team, we welcome community involvement as we grow. The project is built entirely with Rust, has been in development since 2018, and launched in 2022. As an independent project run entirely by a small team of enthusiasts without corporate backing, we move at our own pace. Our client-side code (Rust/Yew) is fully open-source and hosted on GitLab (https://gitlab.com/cadbase/cdbs-app) with mirrors on GitHub and Codeberg. The backend (Rust/Actix-web) is currently kept private while we clean up the architecture and fix internal technical debt, but we are actively working toward opening it fully for self-hosting. CADBase serves engineers, designers, and hardware creators. We fit into Hachyderm to share our technical journey, discuss open-source engineering tools, and connect with the Rust community. ### How will you ensure the community is protected?
