Longer Names for Variables/Locks

Would it be possible to use longer names for Global Variables and Locks? I often need to include my device’s name, which consumes 6–8 characters, so having only 20 characters to work with is quite restrictive. It would be even worse with Apple’s default device names (“<First Name Last Name>’s MacBook Pro”). Is there a technical reason for only allowing 20 characters? Or is it because the names would be truncated in the selector menu? Increasing that limit to 30–50 would be a huge help, especially for those of us who construct our Variable/Lock names with Text actions. I could work with 30, if there are issues with making this limit higher. Thank you!
