Palette f-ed up after taking drugs

Reproducer: - Start program with `--i-am-cheating` - Start a race - Press <key>F4</key> once to enable cheat mode - Press <key>CTRL+1</key> to take drugs Expected result: Trip and revert to boring daily routine after 5s, having no remaining side effects Actual result: Seeing permanent effects for the remainder of the race.
