Missing entity : display an error instead of masking it.

Hello, I am wondering if it is possible to display a missing entity instead of masking it ? I mean if i put 3 entities in a line and one of them is not available anymore, it is just hided.. I would like to have an error icon or something. Don't know if it is technically possible. Thanks !
