Does this package support Mermaid.js?

I'm able to use mermaid blocks in a markdown file, but when I move the mermaid code into a markdown cell inside a Jupyter notebook, the mermaid diagram doesn't render. There are plenty of examples here: https://squidfunk.github.io/mkdocs-material/reference/diagrams/
