`vc-dir` does not work

While other `vc` commands work, `vc-dir` shows nothing, except for the basic repo information in the first several lines. When I want to kill the `vc-dir` buffer, it asks ``` Status update process running, really kill status buffer? (y or n) ``` This is not the behavior for a local repo, so I assume that it is related to the bug.
