I drove half an hour to my local DMV to get my license switched from Pennsylvania to Connecticut, and found the place empty. They're not open on Mondays. Now I can't get my car insured in CT, and then registered, until later this week.
Inside, unrelated stuff as usual.

I've actually started seriously looking for jobs. Tomorrow I'm gonna go to the local temp place and talk to them, work on my resume, and just generally start to figure out what the hell I plan to do. I'm now thinking about starting grad school a semester early. Home is driving me INSAAAANE!

ahem. Anyway, my dad and I are working on extending our porch. As such, last week we dug 5 44-inch deep holes about a foot each in diameter. Later, we put sonotubes in the holes and filled them with concrete. Unfortunately, we put the concrete pillars in the wrong place, and had to move them. To do so I had to go ask the guy building the house next door for help. He has a backloader, so he dug us a trench so that we can move the pillars. Now we just have to measure again, move the pillars, and shovel the huge pile of dirt we have back into the hole, so we can get the building inspector out here to approve the deck plan.

My paper for the mathematical workshop at SIGIR 2004 finally got rejected. It only took a week and a half after I was supposed to find out for me to actually find out! I'm really just glad that I know now, although I obviously would have rather it got accepted. Had it been, I probably would have gone out to Sheffield, England to the conference. Ah well.

In the past week, Spike TV (nee FX) has shown The Godfather, The Godfather part II, and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, all good movies. I saw both Godfathers, which I hadn't seen in a while, and half of TGTB&TU, which I hadn't seen before. I'm really jonesing to see the end of TGTB&TU now.
