Misleading title (Diaries)

llimllib's Diary

Now that I've got you into my diary with my witty title, I'll use the "intro text" to tell you what's coming up in your (yes your) near future:

  • Good troll
  • Story idea
  • Meta wankery
  • Cool programming metaphor
  • Cleavage

  • Good Troll

    It appears that simple astrological and extraterrestrial trolling is tremendously effective from this thread. Note my own inability to resist chiming in. It was as if I was compelled to respond. This guy might or might not be serious, I don't spend enough time on K5 anymore to know who's a troll and who's not. If he is, well done. Simple and just logically flawed enough to draw me into responding.

    One thing's for sure though: neither rmg nor Tex are trolls anymore (excluding dupes). What's the effective lifetime of a troll/crapflooder account, about a month? These two are like two old heads bantering back and forth - they're the new duxup/MrQ of K5 (and everybody knows now - don't say anything bad about MrQ).

  • Story Idea

    I might write a program demonstrating bezier curves and how they're generated, and then create an article around that. I want to learn about them, and having a purpose for doing so makes it much easier to do. The thing I'm not certain of, though, is whether K5 is the site I want to post it to or not. I'm really convinced that a site where the authors got paid could work, which brings me conveniently into my next point.

  • Meta Wankery

    Rusty, instead of this "friend of a friend" system, why not use the world's unique identifier? Require that a user register with a credit card number. This keeps kiddies out, makes unique bannination possible (or at least more likely) and would make it easy to accept payment from people if they decided to buy premium memberships or donate to authors. I would be very explicit in mentioning that no charges, now or ever, would be levied on the card without the user's express consent. I don't see why this system would be unworkable. Anybody want to tell me differently?

  • Cool Programming Metaphor

    This site gives a Python recipe for Future Threads. It's just a wrapper around a thread, but it makes threading mind-numbingly simple. To create and start a new thread running function "func", just do

    F = Future(func, arg1, arg2, ...)
    Then, when you need the result of the thread, instead of doing a join, you simply do
    result = F()
    If the thread isn't done, the calling process will block, just like a join() statement. Nothing too fancy, but it's a nice way to think about it.
  • Cleavage

    It's the first real warm day outside around Philly, and I live on a college campus. As you know if you've had the pleasure of living on campus for the spring's first warm day, that means one thing and one thing only. Cleavage.

  • No Comment
  • The best way to learn something is by teaching it
  • Don't porn sites already do this? Isn't K5 already struggling with porn issues as it is?
  • Meh
  • You promised, but did not deliver.

You linked the word "cleavage" to a picture of two women that have next to none.

The one on the left could actually be a dude.

I didn't spend too much time on the picture (none / 2) (#3)

I feel that you're misusing the word cleavage. As a lover of cleavage (even my own) I was sorely disappointed.

--------
studies have shown: at least 63 percent of kurons would charge for sex if they could

but don't go misleading us into thinking that there is cleavage to be had.

It's hard to troll anymore (none / 1) (#1)
by ninja rmg on Wed Apr 7th, 2004 at 07:35:31 PM EST

With this account and I don't have many alternates. It's easy to play meta games and bait other "trolls" and whatever, but for straight up trolls, the name's recognized immediately.

Maybe I'll start up one of my others for a little while.
