Having read a thread about how to make a go board (even though none of it is really rocket science), I decided that it would be a cool project to do. I'm doing a research project about Go this summer, and I've wanted a board to be able to teach people how to play.
In this spirit, I headed down to the maintenance department at my school and asked them for a piece of wood about a foot and a half (46 cm) square with one nice side. They had a piece of an odd piece of wood. It appears to be some sort of particle board covered with a hard, slick, smooth, counter-top like material. Altough I was a little unsure at first that it would work, some quick tinkering on the not-good side showed that sharpie sticks to it pretty well.
So, while contemplating my agonizing seesaw story, I marked out the edges of the board, and drew them. They worked out alright, but I only have a 12-inch ruler, and I need a longer straightedge. I wasn't able to find anything suitable around my suite. As such, I marked out where the inside lines will go and left it for the night.
So, that leaves me with the aforementioned quandary of stones. I've heard that glass factories sell pounds of glass ends dirt cheap, so I've got to try and find one. Otherwise, I could try to find something creative, so I think I'll take a trip to the craft store. Anybody have ideas?
Oh, and what does "A posting decision will be made after 36 hours if no threshold is reached." really mean? Does rusty give a yes or a no? because my story looks like it's going to get there.
