So my story is in the queue. In it, I compare K5 to a church, and make the statement that K5 functions as a church to me. Something that I didn't expect was that people would take this statement so seriously - I had it as a passing thought, and decided upon that passing thought to write a comparison of K5's function in my life to a church's. Unsurprisingly, I had the original idea while sitting in church during Easter mass.
The other hard thing about having a story that you care about is trying not to stifle the commentary by providing too many responses. I want to respond to everyone; obviously I care about the topic at hand. However, I've tried really hard to stick to only responding to what I consider to be editorial comments, which are those criticizing the basis/form/style of the article. On actual discussions of the article I promised myself I'd limit myself to voting positively for people that I agree with, and try to keep even this sparing. I really wish I didn't care about my story, it would make voting so much easier to handle. Oh well.
MindPixel's story, robotboy, was interesting. Unfortunately, I don't have a link to it, since it was killed. In it, he writes of an experience he had as a younger man where he had a standoff with the police after he walked into a gun store, grabbed a gun from a clerk, went into the basement, and almost killed himself. There were two really interesting things about it (stylistically; I found the plot interesting too, but that's neither here nor there).
First, he wrote it as "creative non-fiction". It appeared to be a fictional story, and several commenters suggested that it was; but it appears to have not been. This was interesting, and I think that he pulled it off fairly well.
Last, he didn't use quotation marks. In the story that I'm currently writing about an insomniac dude, this is going to work perfectly.
Now, somebody suggested that I "open up" and write more personal diaries. I was going to talk about my easter here, but I'll save it for tomorrow's diary, because this is already too damn long for a diary.
One last thing, why does thelizman post a comment titled "-1 too you-centric" and then vote +1?
