I was talking to a girl at dinner tonight. This girl works at a bar near my school. The other day, she was at work, talking with her friends. Behind her, the guy who owns the place said something along the lines of "hey chubby, why aren't you working?" (I don't remember exactly what he said, but it definitely involved "chubby"). When she got mad at him, and told him about it, he shouted to everyone around that he apologized to her, that he had to constantly apologize to her.Soon after, she found herself magically off the schedule for next week, and presumably forever.

This is not cool. However, she follows this story up by saying that she's definitely going to get a lawyer now. I know, the dude is definitely an asshole. I'm not going to say whether she's right or wrong, but it was such a foreign response to me; I would have quit, chalked it up to another asshole, and gotten on with things. Is her response common? Warranted? Legal (i.e. did the dude break any laws? did he have to? what could she sue for?
